Maaqutusiis Hahoulthee Stewardship Society (MHSS)
The Maaqutusiis Hahoulthee Stewardship Society (MHSS) is a non-profit organization that manages the lands, resources and economic opportunities within the haḥuułii of the ʕaḥuusʔatḥ Nation. Following legal counsel, a structure was established for Ahousaht enterprises that benefit the ʕaḥuusʔatḥ people collectively, respect and reflect ʕaḥuusʔatḥ values, foster sustainable economic growth within the ʕaḥuusʔatḥ community, and adhere to principles of good business and governance.
MHSS supports Naas Foods in our wild kelp harvesting activities in Ahousaht Territory. Their support facilitates the annual renewal of our wild harvest licences with the Province of BC.
Ahousaht First Nation
Ahousaht First Nation is represented by an elected Chief and Council. AFN Chief and Council are elected by the Ahousaht population for four-year terms and share 20 portfolios among themselves. They follow a Code of Ethics which covers 4 parts (code of conduct, confidentiality, conflict of interest, and breach of ethics). They work together to support their people and Nation.
Ahousaht Chief and Council support Naas Foods in our future expansion plans in Ahousaht territory, notably for the construction of a new seafood processing plant on Flores Island.
New Relationship Trust
The purpose of the New Relationship Trust is to provide resources to assist First Nations to build their own capacity to participate in the processes and activities envisioned by, and that revolved from, the New Relationship between the Government of B.C. and First Nations in B.C. by enhancing First Nation governance, leadership and institutional and human resources capacity to address social, cultural, and economic needs and priorities. These include, shared decision making, land use planning and resource management, revenue and benefit sharing, community planning and consultation and other interactions.
Naas Foods successfully received the Indigenous Food Security and Sovereignty grant in 2024. This funding allowed Naas Foods to implement the first phase of its kelp farm.

Nuu-Chah-Nulth Economic Development Corporation (NEDC)
NEDC is an Indigenous Financial Institution (IFI) providing developmental lending, business financing and support services to Indigenous entrepreneurs on Vancouver Island. NEDC plays a major role in helping First Nation communities on Vancouver Island become healthy, wealthy and socio-economically independent.
NEDC has been supporting Naas Foods since its beginnings. Their continuous support in various forms helped Naas Foods at different stages of the business journey.
GreenWave
GreenWave is a nonprofit organisation based in North America dedicated to scaling regenerative ocean farming. Their core mission is to train and support ocean farmers, help build the market for seaweed & shellfish crops, and deliver both environmental and economic benefits.
Greenwave supports Naas Foods through its Kelp Climate Fund. This funds helps kelp farmers with upfront cost for kelp seeds. In return, farmers share data related to outplanting, crop growth and harvesting.
