Sport Fish Processing

We process (cut and vacuum-packed) fish into fillets or portions. Our portions are typically around 1 lb but can vary if the fish are small. Filets are always divided into 2 per fish except for halibut. Our typical portion amounts are as follows, depending on the size of the fish or if the customer wants bigger or smaller portions than 1 lb (they need to be specific at drop off):

  • Salmon: 4,6,8,10 or 12
  • Halibut: 10, 12, 14, 16, 18, 20, 22, or 24
  • Ling cod: 4,6,8,10
  • Rockfish: 1, 2
  • Sable: 2,4,6,8

Drop off Requirements:

We require all fish to be dressed (gutted and bled, head and tail on) before we intake them. All fishers must have a license on them that we can attach to their intake form. A paper copy is preferred but a phone copy will work. Regular drop-off times are between 10 am - 6:30 pm. If you are dropping off fish after this time, please get your captains to text one of us to make sure someone is there to receive it. We guarantee a 24 hr turnaround time, at time of drop off. If customers require a faster turnaround time, the order may be subject to an expedited fee (see below). This fee is to cover the overtime of our fish team if they need to process the fish that evening. Typically, If the customer drops off fish before 5 pm, it will get cut that evening and be frozen by the next morning.

Pick-up Requirements:

We are open from 8:30 am-7 pm for fish pick-ups. If a customer requires their fish to be picked up before 8:30 am, they may be subject to an early pickup fee. This fee is to cover the wages of our staff that have to come in prior to their scheduled shift. When picking up fish, we highly recommend that customer bring their own coolers as this is the most cost-effective way to bring their fish home. We offer several different types of coolers that customers can purchase from us as well as flight-friendly shipping boxes that all airlines will accept. A customer who is purchasing one of our coolers, or getting their fish shipped through us, will receive their fish packed up and ready for transport, in the desired boxes. We do not guarantee a packing service to customers packing out fish in their own coolers as this is quite a timely process and creates a significant backlog in the morning when multiple customers are picking up at once. If we have time we will certainly help but we like to make it clear to customers that this is not the expectation.

Shipping:

We can ship fish anywhere across North America. We use FedEx overnight express shipping. Packages are held in a freezer and shipped from Vancouver. Shipping can be incredibly expensive and we highly advise all our guests to take their fish with them. I would ask that you encourage your guests to do the same because there is always a shock when customers get their bills. Shipping in Canada is around $200-$400 per box, depending on where they are located. Shipping to the States is typically around $500. We have a $100 shipping and handling fee that covers us packing up the fish and flying it to Vancouver to be stored in a frozen facility. We carry coolers of a variety of shapes and sizes so if you do not have one, you can purchase one in the shop on your way out of town.
